ThrowBack - Thursday

Today we will be giving you guys one old track to think about, yeap folks this is ThrowBack-Thursday.
ThrowBack-Thursdays have been crafted to help each and every one of y’all to remember all the old tracks that you used to bang on the stereo or on your CD walkman, remember that?

Some of us were only introduced to the sweet sounds of house music when these hot club bangers were released, talk about inspiration. ThrowBack-Thursday is being introduced to commemorate these legendary club hits.

IAmHouseMusicMag would like to thank and send a shout out to all the DJ’s out there making all these club bangers and the classics to be.

Today’s ThrowBack-Thursday track is from Mmithi’s essential selection 4, a good compilation in itself. Mmithi’s essential selection 4 was mixed by DJ TOKZEN, the album was released in 2006 by Sheer House.  This week’s track is “Something about you“ by Lorayne (Johanathan’s Morning Black Light Mix). Make sure you get yourself this track or album if you do not have it.

We all know that if you listened to house music while you were young, whenever this track played you would  Mmbe elevated to another level. Whether it was played from a car passing by or on your way to school, you would just get this deep feeling within that was created by this track. That’s what made this track awesome and it is truly considered a club classic.

One thing I know is that this track was a hit in its era and if you didn’t have it you were considered as one of those folk who weren’t so cool. So for me back then it was like a must to have all the club bangers and it is still a huge priority to collect them ‘cause they are part of me.

I feel that if you didn’t like this track you weren’t listening to house music and all you did was play the track because people liked it, I mean it was popular anyway, still is. If you liked the track it would make you ecstatic every time you listened to it. It was supposed to get you excited every time you thought about it, but that’s my opinion and this is ThrowBack-Thursday!

If you’re a house music lover, make sure you listen to house music and not just play the song cause you think you like it, listen to it, breathe it and live it.

Meet ShopstarDJ

From deep soul music on the decks to the soft, swift technique of mixing without a trace of the previous track on the ear; smooth mixing is what this dude is about. This week’s feature is a prodigious DJ and a talented younker from the small town of KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga. Ladies and Gentlemen: Shopstar.

Before the recognition, Shopstar fell in love with the technique of mixing and was later introduced to the game by the Loud Mouf Entertainments - A crew of DJ's from his hometown, they include: 4tune, Laydees, Sindicate, Siphiwe & Dex The Magician who taught him the basics of the art of mixing. He then went further on his own with the support of his hometown which put him on greater heights as a DJ. He fell in love with music at an early age and then, he mastered it, look at him today! He took his time to master his art of music and studied Music Theory at UNISA. He has never looked back from then and went straight on doing what he does best.
Opening a music company - African Soil Entertainments, he’s started hosting events and has gone deeper into the house music scene.

What inspires this young man to keep going is his love and passion for music and the art of mixing, which he has learnt to master over time.

He has played alongside the likes of Lulo Café, Shimza, Vinny Da Vinci, Christos, Funk Deepstar, Da Capo, Brazo Wa Afrika, Darque, Lele X, Menthol Deep, Shaun Dee and the list goes on and on... and these are mostly prominent names, mind you. He's played at several venues and events across the country. With aspirations for the future this up and coming talented DJ is up in arms for the challenges ahead.

Watch this space; this kid might just blow up right before your eyes.

Meet Mlungisi Twala

It is believed that the older wine is, the better it tastes and this is no exception when it comes to music. This week’s DJ proves that sentiment extends to artists as well. With that said, we would like to introduce you to Mlungisi Twala.

Ever since the year of 2000 Mlungisi Twala has had a keen interest in music. He started playing records in 2008 with local DJ’s and he’s played at various parties during 2008 to 2009. He then found the club scene during the latter till 2010. Mlungisi has developed his knowledge of house music by working with the likes of Spinnaboyz and he’s shared the decks with a range of talented DJ’s. With the influence of the legacy of Chicago House, Detroit techno and Old Skool house music in South Africa.
He is generally known for spinning educational house mixes and he is not limited to any dance music genre. Combining deep house, soulful vocals, techno and funky instruments with some bass & drum, he has the ability to put a crowd into a party mood and can up a club’s reputation. His musical style reflects the future of the house music scene in South Africa and he is on a process of releasing his first EP in the coming years.

“Music-Intrusion strives for superb high-definition sound and class. Leading music levels with extreme DJ’s that provide the best level of versatility unmatched by any music brand in its class today. We’re not only focusing on music but more than anything we’re entrepreneurs, it’s what we sell to the rest of the world!”
Says Mlungisi.
